Mr. Joey Day
Mr. Joey Day recently joined our staff as our Athletic Director. Mr. Day completed his undergraduate studies at Ashland University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, with a double minor in Coaching and Business Administration. His coaching career began when he was 20 years old – at the junior high level – for West Holmes School District, where he coached baseball for 3 seasons before joining the high school ranks as an assistant coach. At the high school level, he helped lead the time to their first state appearance in 64 years and the regional tournament twice. During the 2012-2013 school year, he served as the Assistant Athletic Director/Dean of Students for
Smithville High School in Ohio where he helped to oversee all aspects of the athletic department and served as the strength and conditioning coach for all teams.
After coaching at West Holmes, Mr. Day joined the baseball program at Wooster High School in 2014 where he was the freshman and assistant varsity coach for one season, making a district tournament appearance that year.
Mr. Day then accepted a Graduate Assistant (GA) position at Baldwin Wallace University where he served as the GA for Student Athlete Services, Intramural Sports, and also served as the Assistant Baseball Coach, working with the hitters and outfielders. During his time coaching at Baldwin Wallace, he set the school record for regular season wins (32), earned a conference tournament bid, and an at-large regional tournament bid for the NCAA championships, finishing ranked in the top 25 for Div. III nationally in 2014-2015. In Mr. Day’s second year he helped compile a 20+ win season, and a conference tournament bid.
Mr. Day also served as the athletic intern for
Berea-Midpark High School in
Berea, OH during the 2015-2016 school year. He completed his Masters of Education in Sport Management from Cleveland State University.
